SUNGURA maestro Alick Macheso is set to help revive the army band during a family fun day charity show at Imbizo Barracks on Saturday.
The army band – Military School of Music was once popular in the 1990s when it produced hit single Mai vaDhikondo. It disbanded afterwards when some of its members left the military. Now, the Zimbabwe National Army is trying to revive the once popular band by calling on the services of Extra Basso to help get the band’s name out in the public.
During the fun day, starting at 10AM, there will be activities for children, braai for adults and a performance from Macheso in the afternoon.
Macheso, who will be performing at the barracks for the first time, said he was excited to help the once popular army band.
“I’ll perform songs from my upcoming album during the show and mix them with my all time hits,” said Macheso.
Meanwhile, Macheso and his Orchestra Mberikwazvo ensemble will tomorrow take their act to Mudamburi Gardens in Chivi.
The talented singer who is always in top gear and rarely disappoints wherever he performs will be performing in Masvingo province for the first time this year.
Fans from as far as Chiredzi, Zvishavane and Birchenough Bridge are expected to throng the Chivi night spot.
