All about passion and way of life

Teaching is his passion and way of life. This is how to describe Manners Msongelwa popularly known as MUSO.

He was born for this purpose. He started teaching in 2003 and has taught at several schools including Samambwa in Zhombe, Rio Tinto, Zhombe High , Kwekwe high and now Camelot College .

He has been the best History teacher in the Midlands province and also in the  Kwekwe district for many years. One of his highest highlights was when  he attained 32 As and some few Cs.

Whenever he teaches exam classes, students are guaranteed to get As.

In  2015  he started doing seminars around Zimbabwe , teaching learners from different schools. Every  Saturday he travelled to different areas assisting learners in History and guidance and Counselling. He has been to Bulawayo, Uzumba, Binga, Victoria Falls , Marondera, Mutare, etc assisting students.

According to Dr Muso, “when l was doing these History seminars l discovered that so many students were facing serious challenges such as drug abuse, early sexual relationships, early child marriages, low self esteem, peer pressure and social family break-ups.”

This encouraged him to write two novels on morality and a dozen articles inspiring and teaching the learners.  In one of his articles, he wrote: about three stages of Success at School.

According to Dr Muso, for one to be successful at school, one has to pass through different important stages. These are; discovery, character/discipline and success.

One has to discover himself/herself. One has to know who they are. Know who you want to be in life. Have a vision. What’s your dream? Ask yourself, why am l going to school? Why am l alive? There’s a reason for your existence. You are not a biological mistake. There’s something special that you were born to do here on earth.

After discovering yourself shape your character. Be disciplined. You now tell yourself that l won’t do this and that. You will be a person of integrity. You won’t be changed by the environment. You are like characters eg 1,2,3,4. Or A,B,C,D,E .These won’t change ,even if you go to Angola,Japan Britain South Africa a  1,2 ,3  will remain the same, even an A ,Or a B will still remain the same in all these countries. You will be trustworthy.

You remain intact. You won’t copy others, but you will remain yourself. You need to remain principled. You develop certain habits, and good traits that you follow every day. Some of the good traits include, saying NO to drugs, smoking, sex etc. You tell yourself that it’s not time for that. Your focus is school work.

Success is the final stage. Success is not accidental. You have to go through a process.

The process is not easy. Be different, some students or peers will laugh at you, you will lose some of your friends, you will be confused thinking that what you are doing is not correct, etc but in the end your patience will pay.

It’s possible to have 10As or 15 points. Anyone can have these good passes, but only if you discover yourself and remain disciplined.

At this point, you will now be a person of value. You will also attract people of value.

He motivates and inspires learners to focus on their school work and desist from doing any practices that do not allow them to pursue their school work.

He has done  drug awareness campaigns around schools and this went a long way in assisting students knowing about the dangers of taking drugs.

During Covid -19  he assisted several learners through WhatsApp groups and Facebook, where he shared audio and notes free of charge.

He also created a youTube channel where he has recorded everything done in our History Syllabus for both O and A level students.

He went a step further and recorded past exam papers showing how questions can be answered.

This assisted and is still assisting learners.

Learners who could not afford data bundles are using his Whatsapp groups, and learners who  afforded data bundles are using his youTube                 channel.

He is the president of History Teachers of Zimbabwe and has represented the country in countries such as ltaly , Kenya, Tanzania , South Africa just to mention a few.

He has written several History  textbooks being studied in schools in Zimbabwe. His passion for teaching has transformed the lives of many students in Zimbabwe.
