All-Africa Games: Young Warriors through

ZIMBABWE’S Under-23 soccer team put up a disciplined performance to pull through to the next round of the All-Africa Games qualifiers after grinding a draw against Zambia in the second leg of the preliminary round at Rufaro yesterday.

The Young Warriors, who carried a 3-2 cushion from the reverse leg in Lusaka two weeks ago, sailed through on goal aggregate despite surrendering their lead in a game of two halves yesterday.

Zimbabwe dominated the first 45 minutes and it was only a matter of time before Dynamos newboy Denver Mukamba, who formed a good combination with clubmate Archieford Gutu, put them on top with a well-struck effort in the 27th minute.

But Zambia came back stronger in the second period and were rewarded when substitute Lewis Macha drilled home from close range to level terms midway through the second period.-Herald Sports
