ALL is set for the fundraising dinner in honour of First Lady, Cde Grace Mugabe’s golden jubilee expected to be held today at the First Family’s Blue Roof residence in Borrowdale, Harare.

The fundraising event is expected to raise funds for charity organisations that Cde Mugabe is a patron of among them The Grace Mugabe Foundation, Danhiko Trust, Aids Counselling Trust, Zimbabwe National Association for Mental Health, the Adult Literacy Organisation in Zimbabwe and Musha Mukadzi Zimbabwe Armed Forces Trust.

A member of the organising committee for the fundraising dinner, Albert Mugabe said efforts to raise funds towards the event had been a success.

He said they received an overwhelming response from individuals and companies.

“We might have reached capacity in terms of sales of tables, which is a huge success, bearing in mind that the funds would be channelled to charity organisations,” said Mugabe.

He said various artistes are expected to provide entertainment to guests at the fundraising dinner.

They include superstar Oliver Mtukudzi and other youthful gospel artistes among others.

Mugabe said guests are expected to start arriving at 4.30PM.

He appealed to Zimbabweans to donate towards the charitable event.

Mugabe said there might be plans of making the fundraising function an annual event.

Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko has hailed the First Lady for her frankness and straightforwardness in dealing with issues affecting Zimbabwe.

Congratulating her on her birthday, VP Mphoko and his office said the First Lady was also playing an integral role in caring for the under-privileged children and the disabled in the country.

“We celebrate her forthrightness, candidness and frankness in dealing with issues affecting our nation.

“We wish you long life, full of happiness and fulfilment of your goals especially for the children, the disabled and under-privileged,” reads the statement.

VP Mphoko’s Office said it also recognised the First lady’s pivotal role in giving President Mugabe the necessary support in leading the country.

“You have stood by His Excellency, nurturing and supporting him as he carries out his God-given duties of leading our beloved country, Zimbabwe,” the statement reads.
