THE body of national hero Archbishop Mamvura Ernest Paul Mwazha will lie in Guvambwa today for an all-night viewing session ahead of his burial tomorrow.
The Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage announced that the revered cleric, affectionately known as Mutumwa, passed away on November 20 at the age of 107.
The burial will take place in Chirasauta, Chikomba District, following official and religious proceedings in line with the family’s wishes and church protocols.
Close relatives and church leaders will oversee the ceremony.
Mourners have gathered at Number 8, Jefferson Road in Hatfield, Harare, where the Archbishop’s remains were collected from Nyaradzo Funeral Parlour and taken for lying in state.
A church service was held last night from 7 PM to 10 PM.
Today, the Archbishop’s remains will be airlifted to Guvambwa for body viewing starting at 4 PM and continuing throughout the night until 6 AM tomorrow.
“On Sunday, 30 November 2025, starting at 8 AM, Archbishop Mamvura Ernest Paul Mwazha will be flown from Guvambwa to Chirasauta Business Centre, his final resting place,” the statement indicated. Burial proceedings are set to run from 9 AM to midday.
The public is invited to bid farewell to this distinguished national hero, with the Government urging mourners to adhere to the religious protocols guiding the ceremony.
