The historic race route will start and at the Harvest House International Conference Centre in Selbourne Park. Organised in part as a way to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle in the community, the race is also aimed at raising funds for the completion of the church’s multipurpose facility.

Harvest House International HQ Professionals Chapter’s Nothando Moyo told Zimpapers Sports Hub that all is set and they are expecting to have as many runners on Saturday.

“As the Professionals Chapter of Harvest House International, we are hosting this marathon on 24 May, starting at 6AM and ending at 11AM, to celebrate Harvest House turning 30 years of age in ministry. So, this marathon will host a walkathon for 5km,10km and the 21km. There will also be aerobics and Zumba sessions.

“We are glad to announce that we have sponsors and partners who have come on board to make the event a success with donations in terms of prizes to be won, provisions of water points and other services that will be on offer. We are thankful for their decision to make an impact in the community as Harvest House celebrates its 30th milestone,” said Moyo.

She added: “Some of the sponsors are Econet Wire, who will give a floating trophy and other supplementary prizes. Funeral services company Kingdom Blue will provide refreshments for the day and along the 21km route at all refreshment stops. We also have Premium class tours on medals and canteen ingredients for food to be cooked and or sold on the day to raise funds for the building.”

Moyo said they were grateful to medical service providers such as Corporate 24, who will offer free medical checks for blood pressure, diabetes, weight BMI and other ailments. Another medical institution, Galen House has come on board with the 10 km trophy, free cancer screen and all types of cancer awareness.

“We also have Rugare medical centre who will give free eye tests for all, including free reading glasses to be distributed on the day. There also will be fee oral health education and dental consultation as well as free extractions for the elderly and emergency cases. We are yet to finalise the list but all we want to say is that we invite everyone to be part of this marathon,” said Moyo.
