ALL is set for the 2015 Karate Champion of Champions competition at the Home Industries Hall at the Exhibition Park this morning. The event will have both full contact and semi-contact karate competitions and about 200 participants had registered before yesterday’s closing time.

The competition presents an opportunity for the National Coaching Unit to select members of the national team for next year’s events which include, the semi-contact Karate Zone VI Championships to be hosted by Zimbabwe.

The field is now open for new challengers as Winston Nyanhete and Gerald Muusha, who dominated in the past years, have since turned to coaching.

Zimbabwe Karate Union secretary-general Paul Danisa said everything was now in place and the event will go ahead today.

“The event is on and registration went on until lunchtime today (yesterday). We had an overwhelming response.

“We are definitely going to have new champions as those who used to dominate have been elevated to the coaching department,” Danisa said.
