All is set for the inaugural Musabvunda fitness event and music festival happening from tomorrow until Sunday at RBZ Sports Club in Mabelreign, Harare.
The fully subscribed fitness and music fiesta is expected to draw over 1 000 participants with entertainment from some of the big names in local music, among them sungura godfather Madzibaba Nicholas Zakaria and Jiti musician Baba Harare.
Speaking to The Herald Entertainment, event spokesman Mubu Delorne Mubu said all was set for what was expected to be a top-notch event.
“We have held fitness events before, but this one is special in that it is our first ever fitness extravaganza and music festival,” said Mubu. “We are fusing fitness and music to curate an event that will for long be etched in the minds of many.
“We have pulled all the stops towards a glitch-free event and we just can’t wait for Saturday and Sunday.”
Baba Harare said: “We love and respect our fans and every opportunity to perform means a lot for me and my team.
“We are, therefore, geared for a performance of a lifetime come Sunday at the Musabvunda Music Festival. We have new and exciting drills that will leave our fans asking for more.”
Baba Harare’s sentiments were echoed by Zakaria, who also saluted Musabvunda for valuing fitness.
“I am one person who values fitness and wellness and for that reason, I have kept myself well and I look younger than most people of my generation,” he said.
“Performing at the Musabvunda fitness event and music festival is therefore a big honour for me and I can’t wait to take fans down memory lane and also introduce my new album to them.”
The event, which is drawing membership from various organisations and partners, among them leading corporates investing in their staff wellness, body builders, athletes and other fitness groups will be held over two days starting with the mini marathon and some fitness sessions on Saturday before the main one on Sunday.
Kudzai Pasipanodya, the brains behind the Musabvunda brand, which also specialises in manufacturing and distribution of gym and sports wear, said they were humbled by the positive response from fitness and music enthusiasts.
“The event is sold out and we clocked over 700 athletes some two weeks back. More are still registering and we are having to stop the registration. We hope to promote a fitness and wellness mindset in our people, particularly in such a time where healthy is a concern for all.”
The Musabvunda network, which also seeks to promote excellence and productivity, has continued to grow in leaps and bounds and was also part of the recent Econet Victoria Falls Marathon in July.
Pasipanodya participated at the Comrades Marathon in South Africa last month where he completed the 90km run, amongst a host of other leading athletes.
