The Government, through the Public Service Commission, will this week hold its annual three-day second edition of the Public Service Retirement Conference, slated for the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair grounds in Bulawayo.
Running from September 24-26, the event, will be held under the theme; “Retirement Planning in Action: Transforming Insights into Realities”.
The national event, which follows the inaugural conference held last year in Harare, aims to strengthen awareness around retirement planning, while creating space for dialogue among key stakeholders.
The first edition was hailed as a milestone in institutionalising retirement preparedness within the public service and beyond.
This year’s conference is set to bring together representatives from both the public and private sectors, with organisers expecting a wide range of professionals, pension experts, policymakers and service providers.
The event will also feature an Exhibition Park, running concurrently with the main conference sessions, allowing institutions and businesses to showcase products and services that support financial security and social wellbeing in retirement.
In a statement, the PSC said the conference was part of broader Government efforts to ensure that public servants are adequately prepared for life after work.
“This conference is a platform for dialogue and collaboration, aiming to promote sustainable retirement outcomes that contribute to national socio-economic goals.
“We invite public sector institutions, private sector players, businesses and organisations to participate in the Conference and Exhibition.
“Together, let’s work towards promoting financial security, health, wellbeing and social support for retirees,” said the PSC.
The PSC noted that the Second Retirement Conference is aligned with National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1), which recognises the need for inclusive development and long-term human capital sustainability.
By fostering innovation and multi-sector collaboration in retirement planning, the conference seeks to support a more comprehensive and practical retirement framework for the nation.
