BULAWAYO-BASED brand activist and socialite Godwill Tasunga, warmly-known as G-Factor in partnership with AMC Suzuki is set to launch the first ever car fashion affiliated show called the Summer Fashion Drive.

The show will be held on 6 December at AMC Suzuki Showroom in Bulawayo. Tasunga said the event seeks to promote local designers as they will be given a platform to showcase their talent.

“The Summer Fashion Drive is an initiative set to promote local designers and to revive Zimbabwe’s fashion culture. The event seeks to redefine fashion under a business atmospheric zone. On the day, six designers will showcase high fashion couture, corporate wear, street wear and ready to wear prom diaries. Among some of the key exhibitors is Clix clothing, Sozinio, MOD, Leico designs, Inkocy and Urban Fusion.

“The show will be running under the theme Sexy is Boss. We are trying to convey a message that it is okay for one to look sexy in a corporate world. We realised that many designers put limits when it comes to expressing themselves through their designs and we are giving them a platform to showcase their innovativeness, express and market themselves.

“Designers will be showcasing their talent in front of business executives and fashion fanatics that have the capacity to invest in the talent being projected. Actress and fashion critic Farie Jules and singer Paula Paloma will be hosting the show and there will be performances from Mimmie, Mike Brown, Novuyo Seagirl and Kilemol. Among us there will be celebrity guest appearances, USA based vlogger and lifestyle presenter Monica Mandeya and celebrity designer Tapfumanei from Harare,” he said.

The brand activist said they have a lot planned for the future of their project.

“Since we are partnering with AMC Suzuki and they are also sponsoring us with a venue, we hope that the Suzuki Summer Fashion Drive becomes an annual event and hopefully they might pick on a face to assume the role of brand ambassadorship. Even though it is still early to say that is the conceptual idea. Other sponsors and partners include Marigold private limited, Travel Router, Lobels, Essential delights, Free plans, Lemon Avocado, Slice Pizzeria and Unique solutions,” said Tasunga.
