THE Zanu PF Annual National People’s Conference begins on Tuesday, with a series of meetings leading to the conference at the ZITF grounds in Bulawayo.

The conference is being held under the theme ‘Industrialise and Modernise Towards the Attainment of Vision 2030’.

It will start with the convening of the Politburo meeting on Tuesday, October 22, followed by the Central Committee on Wednesday, October 23, at the party’s headquarters in Harare.

Delegates are expected to travel to Bulawayo on October 24.

On October 25, the Anti Sanctions Day, SADC chairman President Mnangagwa is expected to give his keynote address.

The conference will be officially opened by Zanu PF First Secretary President Mnangagwa on Friday, October 25, while the closing ceremony will be on Saturday, October 26.

A business expo will run concurrently with the main events.

Zanu PF Information and Publicity Director, Cde Farai Marapira said all is set for the conference, with accommodation and transport to ferry delegates already in place. Delegates are already being accredited.

“All the things that are needed to cater for the delegates are already in place and it looks like it is going to be a resounding success, it will be very organised as usual,” said Cde Marapira.

He said delegates are expected to discuss economic and social issues to ensure the country continues on its growth trajectory under the ruling party’s leadership.

“Conferences are very important because Zanu PF is a party with structures; it communicates to its membership through its structures so when people come to the conference we are taking stock of our party policy. Remember the party’s policy guides Government policy. The party is supreme.

“We will be looking at our plans, the developments, how we are looking at countering perennial problems such as sanctions, how our projects on countering global warming are going. The conference is a platform for the whole structure to sit down, introspect, suggest, develop and come out stronger,” he said.

The conference is held on a rotational basis, with the Midlands Province having hosted the conference in Gweru last year.
