All set for Zimbabwe Saints’ AGM

ZIMBABWE Saints will hold its annual general meeting at the team’s clubhouse in Queens Park East, Bulawayo on February 25.

The club’s chief executive officer, Lloyd Munhanga said all is set for the meeting of one of the country’s oldest football clubs. At the meeting the club is expected to review its performance in 2023, a season in which they were sacked from the Zifa Southern Region League for failing to fulfil

fixtures and a poor record of paying match officials.

According to the notice of the meeting, the chairman’s report will be presented and that of the treasurer.

An exciting item is the election of club trustees.

At the moment there is a body led by Vincent Pamire.

There will also be the election of an interim executive committee to replace one led by acting chairman Ishmael Kaguru.

Munhanga said the meeting is expected to open a new chapter for a club that has suffered from poor funding and internal politics.

“So far we have been relying on our club members for funding as we do not have any sponsorship,” said Munhanga.

He said the AGM is open to all interested members of the public and the media.

Meanwhile, Munhanga said they intend to play in the Bulawayo Province Division Two League.

“We want to return to the Premier League but we will start from grassroots level. Every footballer who is under 23 and fit is welcome to come and showcase their talent and stand a chance to be part our team as we prepare for the coming season,” said Munhanga.

Among Chikwata’s early players was the late Vice President Joseph Msika and the club went on to produce football stars like Agent Sawu, Joseph Machingura, William Sibanda, Ronald Sibanda, Gibson Homela and Andrew Kadengu.
