ZIMBABWE professional golfers will return to the field for the first time in over three months when they take part in the Zimbabwe Professional Golfers Association Championship at Country Club from October 9-11.
The players last had an opportunity to play in the same tournament which was sponsored by Universal Sport.
Local professional golfers are not getting enough game time despite corporates gaining confidence in the association.
Over 40 professional golfers are expected to take part in the over US$5 000 purse tournament.
ZPGA president, Arkil Yousuf, said they are looking forward to a competitive tournament as players have been practising a lot with some taking part in international tournaments.
“We are going to have the ZPGA Championship which will be wholly sponsored by ZPGA from October 9-11 at Country Club.
“The tournament will have over US$5 000 purse and we are grateful that we are now getting some game time as we await corporates to come on board to support us.
“The three-day tournament will see several local and international professionals taking part. The tournament will be played over three rounds and we look forward to over 40 players taking part,” said Yousuf.
The tournament will see the rivalry between in-form Visitor Mapwanya, Robson Chinhoi and Nyasha Muyambo, among several others.
They have been taking part in many tournaments in South Africa Botswana and Zambia.
