THE Zimbabwe Pool Association (Zipa) umpires seminar is set to be held on Saturday at The Barn in Gweru where over 30 participants are expected to take part.
Zipa technical director Wellington Chikasha said district and provincial umpires are expected to take part in the one-day seminar that will see each participant pay US$15 registration fee.
The fee is meant to cover venue hire expenses, stationery costs, breakfast and lunch.
“We are expecting to have more than 30 participants at the seminar which is meant to equip district and provincial umpires with skills to professionally handle pool matches.
Last year, we had similar events that were held in Chitungwiza and Harare that attracted 35 participants at each centre,” said Chikasha.
Chikasha said five areas on All Africa Pool Association (AAPA) playing format, which is now mandatory to all affiliates, AAPA score sheet, which they expect all leagues to start using, Heyball Orientation, Blackball Rules and Umpires or Consultants Key Result Area are going to be addressed.
“After the coverage of these five topics, participants will answer 25 questions carrying four marks each,” said Chikasha.

Zipa public relations officer Donald Wadawu said they were encouraging all districts, provinces and clubs to send their representatives.
“We are looking forward to all districts, provinces and individual sending their representatives for the seminar as participants will in turn serve as trainers at their respective bases,” said Wadawu. — @FungaiMuderere
