All smiles as Mutoko learners get scholarships

IT was all smiles for parents and learners in Mutoko after three learners were offered scholarships by Mutoko South Member of Parliament Mr Isaac Tasikani.

The scholarships were presented on January 12.

The beneficiaries of the scholarships are Claren Sigauke (15), a learner at Chimurenga High School; Petronella Makoni (16) of Tabudirira High School; and Leroy Tiriwabaye (15) of Kushinga High School.

As part of the package, the learners were all enrolled at Munashe High Private School in Mutoko.

In a keynote address to the stakeholders which was read on his behalf, the benefactor, Mr Tasikani, explained in detail the selection criteria used to come up with the list of beneficiaries.

“The selection process was based on merit, with only high-performing, but disadvantaged learners from Mutoko South benefitting,” he said.

“The scholarships are a goodwill gesture extended to people who live in Mutoko South for the trust they have in me.”

When asked about the careers that they would want to pursue after high school, Claren said she would want to pursue law.

Leroy expressed his desire to become a nurse, while Petronella expressing her burning ambition to become a medical doctor.
