adminAFTER nine days of offering sacrifices during the Eid al-Adha period, the Muslim community is optimistic that Allah will answer their prayers for Zimbabwe’s economic turnaround.
Last month, the Muslims made sacrificial killings of cattle, sheep and goats.
Supreme Council of the Islamic Community in Zimbabwe chairperson Sheikh Ishmail Duwa said this year’s Eid-al-Adha was dedicated to the recovery of the country’s economy.
“Since the coming in of the new dispensation, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has made clear his vision on economic revival.
“This explains why we had to compliment his efforts during this crucial time in our religion,” he said.
“According to the Holy Qur’an, we believe that the Eid-al-Adha period is specially meant for the mending of relations with Allah and as such, it’s a time to reveal our hearts’ desires.
“When our actions, decisions and sacrifices flow from a sincere heart with a desire to please Allah, it will enable us to flourish spiritually, which is what we believe the nation needs right now.”
Sheikh Duwa said they believe in Allah for modernisation and industrialisation.
“Our country is very rich, we have a lot of resources and if properly exploited, the face of our economy will change in no time.
“Despite the price distortions, we are optimistic that everything will fall back on track.
“As a community, we have agreed that regardless of religious and political affiliations, the nation needs to work towards development.
“Let’s put aside political differences and join hands with the new Government.
“It’s time for Muslims and other minority religions to play an important part in the rebuilding of our beloved country.
“Many banks have loan facilities for small businesses and this is a good sign. Let’s all support our President in reviving the economy.”
