Despite being a new kid on the block, Allied Security has made significant inroads in penetrating the security industry and emerging as one of the most sought after security companies in the country.
With a wide range of services to offer including security for mines, household security, commercial, industrial, cash in transit and VIP protection among other services, Allied Security continues to create employment and offer valuable services to the communities it operates from. Allied Security offers an alternative to what many once perceived as the “big boys” in the industry.
In a wide ranging interview with Chronicle, Allied Security chief executive officer Mr Bekezela Moyo said the company has grown incredibly since its establishment.
“Allied Security was formed over a year ago and it has grown and become a household name across Zimbabwe with clients as far as Arcturus, Mutoko, Harare, Kwekwe, Bulawayo, Filabusi and Gwanda. It is infact all over the country mainly focusing on security for mines, household security, commercial, industrial, cash in transit and VIP protection,” he said.
Mr Moyo who was recently awarded the coveted Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) Businessman of the Year Award said Allied Security has created employment for over 150 people.
“Allied Security has grown at an incredible pace and created employment for over 150 people and we expect to keep going and to double that by year end and the number will be three fold by next year.
“We want to offer an alternative to the monopoly that was being offered by other security companies. We want to offer an alternative with more sophisticated technology and a much more precise attitude towards giving a top-notch service,” said Mr Moyo.
He said Allied Security has had a great pull effect as a result of the quality service the company offers.
“The reception has been incredible because of the quality service we’re offering. We’ve managed to penetrate a certain clientele which was not receptive to a new security company. There are thousands of security companies out there but not all of them can penetrate a certain clientele. We’ve managed to breakthrough and get clients who support us,” said Mr Moyo.
On the recent spate of robberies in Bulawayo and beyond, Mr Moyo said Allied Security has been working closely with the police to flush out criminal elements.
“There have been a lot of electricity cable thefts and we’ve actually made inroads and caught a number of them. We recently caught one in Hillside and took them to the police station. It’s something that doesn’t happen very often because cable thieves are difficult to catch and they’re usually armed but we’ve arrested a few of them during our neighbourhood watch patrols. We’re offering a service which the community is benefiting from,” said Mr Moyo.
He continued: “We try our best to make sure our guards are alert wherever they are and that they’re aware of their surroundings. We work hand in hand with the police and edify their service.”
Mr Moyo who is also the chief executive officer of Carry Mines said their mining operations are hinged on meeting the country’s US$12 billion target.
“I come from a mining background which spans over 15 years and that entails the actual production and trade of gold. The operations have grown immensely in terms of size, employment creation and the level of production. The output has also increased over the years.
“The Ministry of Finance (and Economic Development) has created a development strategy, National Development Strategy 1, which entails mining, manufacturing, agriculture.
“The target is US$12 billion and we as Carry Mine are doing our best to ensure the target is realised.
“We want to make a significant contribution as the Matabeleland region,” said Mr Moyo.
Turning to the ZNCC award, Mr Moyo said: “This accolade is a confirmation that our work is bearing fruits. We want to thank the ZNCC for recognising our efforts in the gold sector and employment creation.”
