TO assist in keeping the city clean, Altcom Private Limited, a leading manufacturer of hardware products has donated 30 refuse bins to the Bulawayo City Council (BCC).

The company’s director, Mamvura Moyo, handed over the donation to the city council. He said the motivation behind the donation was to encourage stakeholders to keep the city clean.

“The city has a reputation for being clean and as Altcom, we want to assist in maintaining that reputation. We’re doing so by assisting the city council. We have been operating in this city for a long time and we believe Bulawayo is the cleanest city in Zimbabwe. We want to maintain that belief,” said Moyo.

He also said the donation was part of the company’s mandate to give back to the community and its customers who have continued to support them.

In his acceptance speech, Bulawayo Mayor, Senator David Coltart commended Altcom for its donation. He stressed the importance of keeping the city clean to attract investment.

“This investment is important because it’s part of a larger strategy to transform how the city is viewed by both residents and investors. A clean city is inherently attractive to investors, so maintaining cleanliness is crucial for attracting them to Bulawayo,” he said.

Mayor Coltart also stressed the need for collaboration.

“We, at the city council, are deeply grateful for this donation,” he said. “We hope it inspires other companies to join hands with us and keep our city clean. After all, every business has a responsibility towards maintaining a clean environment.”

Ward 26 councillor, Mpumelelo Moyo applauded the company for the donation saying it will go a long way in assisting the city to remain clean.

“Littering is a challenge for our city. We hope these bins will encourage proper waste disposal. They’ll be very helpful in keeping Bulawayo clean. We, as the City of Bulawayo, are grateful for the donation,” said Clr Moyo.
