Amagagasi beat Lwendulu

SECOND placed Amagagasi took full advantage of pacesetters Makomo’s inactivity over the weekend to edge Lwendulu 1-0 in a tightly contested Zifa Matabeleland North Division Two league match at Chinotimba Stadium on Sunday. Iwisa did not play like a team who came into the match with a five-match losing streak as they made the home side sweat for the three points which reduced the gap between Amagagasi and the coalminers to seven.
Admire Mudziwapasi’s solitary strike broke Iwisa’s hearts as they have now gone for a total of 540 minutes of football action without a win.

Iwisa have arguably the most passionate and vocal followers in the Hwange Concession Area and these fans are shell shocked as the team continues to slide with defeat after defeat every week.

Martin “Nkife” Mwale, Iwisa’s team manager wore a brave face yesterday but lambasted his strikeforce for a poor show.
“Against Amagagasi we played well and scared the home fans who were quiet for the better part of the match but the strikeforce combination of Clement Mwale, Tagara Nyoni and Dingani Maphosa was a big disaster. We’ll however work to bring back smiles on the faces of our fans in the last few games. The team’s fans should not panic after these six losses as we’ll come back stronger in 2015,” said Mwale.

The pint-sized Mwale, who once featured for Division One sides ZPC Hwange and Chegutu based Lulu Rovers has been Iwisa’s team manager since 1991.
Makomo, who now have one hand on the title, received a bye as they were expected to play Broncos Africa who have since been expelled from the league.

In another match in Victoria Falls, the Never Munkuli coached Hwange Under-17s lost 1-2 to Victoria Falls Tigers with Justin Chuma and Andrew Ndlovu scoring for Tigers while Morrison Tshuma pulled one back for the visitors.

At Sports Pavilion, Baobab Rovers clobbered army side Moto Moto 3-0 with a stunning performance which left the soldiers short of ammunition to fight back. Qiniso Sayi, Kudzai Madhume and Prosper Mathe all contributed to the bombardment of the army side. Brazil and Zambezi Lions played out to a 2-2 draw at Makwika Ground.

Morestuff Ncube and Visai Ngwenya were on target for Brazil while the lions scored through Brighton Phiri and Antony Ncube. Third placed ZRP Hwange kept their third place intact with a 1-0 victory over Ingagula at Sports Pavilion. The policemen’s regular goal poacher Denzil Kutadza was again spot-on as his effort made all the difference.

Meanwhile, Ian Musoso, the league’s fixtures secretary, has confirmed that three matches are on today as his committee seeks to clear all outstanding fixtures ahead of the do-or-die stage of the campaign.
