TONDERAYI NDIRAYA got his Ngezi Platinum reign off to a winning start but it was Border Strikers who ensured they grabbed the headlines with shocking unprofessionalism at Baobab yesterday. The match was delayed by 25 minutes because the visitors’ had no Castle Lager Premier Soccer League licences, while their coach – Saul Chaminuka – arrived 40 minutes after kick-off.
Border Strikers could not provide their team sheet to the media and the match only started after their players had photographs taken. To compound matters, it looks like Chaminuka might be on his way out if the coach’s post-match comments are anything to go by.
“I don’t know what to say. I have tried my best but there comes a time when you have to say enough is enough,” he said. The new boys’ shenanigans took the gloss off the beautiful of Ndiraya masterminding Ngezi Platinum’s first win at the Baobab.
Second half substitute James Nguluve was the hero after he blasted the ball home after 73 minutes of play. Despite the win Ndiraya conceded he still had a lot to do: “Obviously we need to buy during the mid-season window. I am happy with the result but not the performance.”
