Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Australia Mr Joe Tapera Mhishi on Tuesday presented his credentials to the Governor-General of New Zealand.

Ambassador Mhishi is based in Australia, but is also accredited to cover New Zealand.

The presentation of credentials to cover New Zealand had been delayed since early last year due to periods of lockdowns.

Ambassador Mhishi said: “I am pleased to advise you that today (Tuesday) I presented my credentials to the Governor-General of New Zealand (Patsy Reddy) marking the official commencement of my official duties as Ambassador of Zimbabwe to New Zealand.

“The accreditation has repeatedly been delayed since early 2020 by periods of lockdowns either in Australia or in New Zealand due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Finally, we agreed to conduct the ceremony via Zoom,” he said.
