UNITED States-based top amateur David Amm, who is back in the country on vacation, won the Chapman Grand slam over the weekend.
Amm, who is with Toledo University, managed to score 70, 73 and 75 for a total 218, to beat Michael Wallace.
Wallace was the defending champion and could only manage a second place finish.
Wallace is part of a six-member team that left the country yesterday for the annual Africa High Performance Programme Camp which starts in South Africa today.
The team comprises of Wallace, Tariro November, Tanaka Chatora, Primross Chikwaya, Miriam Masiya and Kudzai Mandava.
Africa High Performance Programme Camp began last year in December when five golfers were selected to attend this camp. The purpose of the camp is to improve the performance of the golfers by exposing them to high intensity games and specialised coaching.
Periodically the players are asked to send their videos for review and feedback from the coaches in South Africa.
The golfers that left yesterday included Tariro November, Michael Wallace and Tanaka Chatora. The players will be out until 7 July 2023.
Funding for the programme was put together by Royal and Ancient, International Golf Federation, the Olympic Solidarity Fund, ZGA and ZLGU.
