Duets with fellow musicians seem to be paying off for songbird Ammara Brown, whose “Mukoko” collaboration with Tytan has taken the industry by storm.
Ammara’s other duet “Kure Kure” that she did with Jah Prayzah was voted the best collaboration at the recently held Zimbabwe Music Awards.
Ammara and Tytan, whose real name is Njabulo Nkomo, brought the house into frenzy at the ZIMA ceremony when they performed “Mukoko”.
The songbird, who is the daughter of the late musician Andy Brown, even got popular on the social sphere before she even made music of her own because she worked a lot with her father.
Many fans had been waiting to hear her music as an independent artiste. Last year she released her own single, “Havarare”, with her former boyfriend Rockford Josphats but it failed to make a huge impact. “Mukoko” has made a huge impact on local airwaves.
According to Ammara, “Mukoko” has proven to be her best duet to date but she is working on other duets involving international artistes.
“Now that ‘Mukoko’ is number one on all charts it has become my most successful duet so far.
“My next single is ‘Next Lifetime’ featuring Hugh Masekela so it’s very early stages of great music to come,” she added. “
“Mukoko” has received fair airplay and it is topping the charts on local radio stations.
