A TOTAL of 44 golfers took to the Hillside Golf Club course for the AMTEC sponsored Wednesday Golf Club Day where Joho Brent emerged the overall winner.
By any standards, the attendance was remarkable for a midweek competition.
In his prize presentation speech, Erazmous Ndongwe, AMTEC Dealer Principal, who and his team organised the event, spoke glowingly of the Best Service Provider Award that his company recently bagged.
“Thank you so much for participating in the Wednesday Club. This sponsorship is a way of thanking you for supporting AMTEC in business over the years.
“As you are aware, AMTEC was formed in 1953, and today we now have over 75 years in existence. You are also aware that we were recently voted the Best Service Provider in Africa by a world renowned brand – Nissan.
“So we are the best in terms of vehicle service. We were the first to win that accolade in Africa. The most important thing that makes AMTEC tick is that we invest heavily in our people. We believe in our people and investing heavily in computerisation to keep up with global trends,” he said.
On the Wednesday Club event, Ndongwe said: “We are happy that we managed to have 44 golfers participating, and we invited 34 other AMTEC customers who are not golfers to join us during and after the prize ceremony at the club. So a total of 78 people were there, a record attendance.”
On the results sheet, the winner Brent amassed 40 points while runner up Tristan Alves had 37 points.
In third position was Happyson Maposa with 37 points while fourth placed Mufaro Mutumhe had 36 points.
In the ladies’ nine-hole contest, the winner was Jess Palmer with 21 points while Carl Fernandes was second with 17 points.
On the nearest the pin were George Lock, Oliver Mashonganyika, Evan Botha and Rob Ravu while the longest drive belonged to Evan Botha.
