A BULAWAYO family feud turned nasty and violent after a man flew into a rage and assaulted his younger stepbrother over a handful of “ancestral soil,” accusing him of trespassing and trying to grab his late father’s legacy!
Nkosilathi Nkosana (38) of Lobenville suburb is now behind bars after allegedly slapping and strangling Mlungisi Moyo (24) in a fierce bust-up rooted in inheritance tensions.

Appearing before Bulawayo magistrate Maxwell Ncube, Nkosana was remanded in custody to May 28 on charges of physical abuse. He did not plead.
Prosecutor Nyaradzo Tukwa told the court that on 10 April around 9PM, Moyo went to collect soil outside the yard for his mother, who needed it for a traditional ancestral appeasement ritual.
But Nkosana wasn’t having it.

“He confronted the complainant, questioning why he was taking soil from his late father’s yard,” said Ms Tukwa. “When Moyo tried to explain, Nkosana snapped, slapped him on the right ear, and strangled him.”
The vicious attack left Moyo with a swollen ear and badly shaken. The court also heard that the two have a long-standing grudge, with Nkosana suspecting his stepbrother wants to snatch the family home, despite having no blood ties to the deceased.
The case was reported to police, leading to Nkosana’s arrest.
