ANDREA The Vocalist’s rollercoaster ride continues and he has set his sights on continental success going forward.

Over the weekend, he was featured on a BBC Africa Special. This coincided with his performance at the inaugural Amplifaya Festival that was held in Harare where he performed his new song titled Amanxeba.

His manager, JBross Entertainment’s Tendai Joe said Andrea’s journey is only going to get better with time.

“This (being featured on BBC Africa) is huge for Andrea, Matabeleland and the Zimbabwe arts sector as a whole. To have the whole BBC dedicating a team just to film Andrea is quite massive. He’s so excited and might not quite comprehend what it means now.

“This was part of my vision as we started as I want to take him to a higher level, and this is just the beginning,” said Tendai Joe.

The youngster recently toured South Africa for a video shoot with Aubrey Qwana and had vocal recording sessions with Amapiano artiste DJ Maphorisa who is slated to perform alongside Scorpion Kings member Kabza De Small in Bulawayo next week.

The fruitful tour saw Andrea also being hosted by Nelson Mandela Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Sello Hatang during his tour of the foundation.

Following his stint in South Africa, he clinched a booking that will see him perform at the Mpumalanga Afro-pop and Jazz Festival in October. Tendai Joe said that more of Andrea’s music will be released soon.

“This is a very exciting time for him and we expect to release more of his music and videos. A lot of broadcasting and media channels must take notice of Andrea. We’re not bragging, but this is the first time, BBC Africa has dispatched a team to profile a Zimbabwean artiste.

“It’s only a matter of time before Rolling Stone and other big magazine companies profile him,” added Joe.

Andrea The Vocalist is back at school now, but said he will be carrying on with his musical journey and rehearsals on weekends.

“It’s been a productive school holiday period. We did a lot in less than 20 days! Schools have opened so I’m switching back to being Andrea Sibanda,” he said. – @eMKlass_49
