Zimdancehall musician Anita Jaxson (24) yesterday approached the Harare Civil Court seeking a protection order against her abusive ex-boyfriend whom she accused of assaulting and insulting her.

Jaxson told magistrate Ms Tamara Chibindi that her former lover Nyasha Gurure was not giving her peace.

In response, Gurure objected to the application saying she was telling lies.

“We have been dating for two years and staying together for the past year. The real problem began when she started receiving money from another man and I did not like that. She provokes me in several ways and that is why I end up insulting her.”

Ms Chibindi granted protection orders to both Jaxson and Gurure and ordered them to maintain peace.

Anita is popularly known for her collaboration songs with popular artist Poptain called “Duffle Bag” and “Unonzani” with Jah Master.

Meanwhile, Ms Chibindi also granted a protection order to a Harare woman, Vimbai Musini, who had brought her husband, Advance Kunda, to court for assaulting her after he admitted to the assaults.

She told the court that her husband assaulted her and was forbidding her from going to work.

He was also taking away all the money she earns and physically assaulting the children too.

Responding to the allegations, Kunda said he was justified to act in that manner.

“I do not oppose the granting of order, but the problem started when I gave my wife US$500 for safe-keeping for a month and when l asked for the money she said she had used the money,” he said.

Ms Chibindi ordered Kunda not to threaten, harass or assault his wife.
