RHUMBA News ZW has announced July 26, 2025, as the date for this year’s awards ceremony, a celebration designed to honour rhumba artistes and foster pride and confidence in their craft.
Established in 2022, Rhumba News ZW has been on a mission to promote and showcase rhumba music, a genre rich in cultural heritage yet often overlooked in the broader music industry. This year’s ceremony is set to take place at the Victory Theatre in Johannesburg.
The organisers acknowledged the challenges faced by rhumba artistes, who despite their dedication and talent, often go unrecognised and undercompensated.
“We’re pleased to report that Rhumba News ZW has been warmly received by both artistes and fans, who appreciate our commitment to highlighting the talents and contributions of rhumba musicians.
“While we acknowledge the skepticism that often accompanies new initiatives, we’re heartened by the support of prominent artistes who share our vision and are eager to collaborate with us.
“Through our efforts, we aim to elevate the profile of rhumba music and provide a platform for its artists to reach a wider audience. We believe our work will not only benefit the artistes but also enrich the music industry as a whole. The annual awards ceremony will take place on July 26th at the Victory Theatre,” they said.
