MUTARE social soccer outfit – Socco Golden Stars – will host celebrated artiste, Winky D’s Vigilance Football Club in a potentially explosive encounter in yet another high profile social soccer tomorrow (Saturday).
The highly anticipated match is slated for Mutare Sports Club.
The Ruramai Nyakonga-bankrolled team has hosted numerous entertaining social soccer matches in the city and have also travelled the length and breadth of the country for the same.
Only recently, Socco Golden Stars hosted highly rated Harare side, PanJap FC, a team made up of galaxy of yesteryear football stars that include former Warriors’ defender, Dumisani Mpofu, Osca Machapa, and Zondai Nyaungwa among many others.
Nyakonga, who recently graduated with a CAF C football coaching badge, said his club is preparing for the match against Vigilance with the aim of maintaining their dominance over social soccer clubs across the country.
“We are determined to keep giving football fans in Mutare something to look forward to in terms of exciting social soccer matches. We are all aware that Manicaland is lagging behind in terms of competitive football, and we are there to fill the gap by providing entertaining social soccer matches.
“It is against this background that we will be hosting Vigilance Football Club owned by Winky D. This comes after we hosted PanJap Football Club. We hope to continue with that trend and also cement our status as giants in the local Mutare Social Soccer Football League,” said Nyakonga.
