Anti-drugs music show on cards

Sunday Mail Reporter

A LOCAL drug rehabilitation centre will this Saturday host a music show to scout for talented youthful musicians as part of its drive to fight drug and substance abuse.

The centre, Fight Against Substance and Addiction, was instrumental in assisting Zimdancehall chanter Dobba Don, real name Dumalisile Byron Mehlomakhulu, to recover from drug and substance abuse.

The talent show, dubbed “Dobba Don Talent Search”, will be held at Theatre in the Park, within the Harare Gardens.

A director at the organisation, Mr Shingirai Magwenzi, said the event will be a celebration of the popular musician’s recovery.

“The talent show is for promoting and uplifting local talent, as well as giving them exposure to the music industry,” he said.

“There will be five judges, including Dobba Don and gospel artistes like Kuda Mutsvene and Jonnah Chiwasa.

“The event will start at 10am.”

He also said outstanding performers will walk away with prizes. “Prizes will include a paid contract to perform with Dobba Don, as well as vocal, dance and stage etiquette training,” said Mr Magwenzi.
