Anti-sanctions lobby set for official launch

Coalition Against Sanctions (CAS) chairman Cde Jimayi Muduvuri has called on all Zimbabweans regardless of political affiliation to unite and advocate for the removal of illegal sanctions on Zimbabwe.

CAS is a group of various organisations in Zimbabwe and abroad who have joined hands  in the fight against sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe.

In a statement, Cde Muduvuri —who is also the Zimbabwe Amalgamated Council of Churches (Zacc) patron — said on April 29, Zimbabweans should come together as the Coalition Against Sanctions would be officially launched.

The official launch will be held in Harare.

“On April 29, we will be officially launching the Coalition Against Sanctions and we are calling on all Zimbabweans to join us for the launch of the flagship campaign for the removal of sanctions against Zimbabwe.

“We want a Zimbabwe without sanctions for the release of economic potential and the prosperity of its people. We want a better and conducive business environment, elimination of perceived economic and political risk and growth of Gross Domestic Product and creation of employment opportunities,” he  said.

He said there should be an improvement in the investment climate and reduction of the cost of doing business and elimination of poverty.

“Business leaders, the academia, policy makers, civil society, students’ organisations, women organisations and church leaders should come together for this cause.

“Let us come together and support the call for the removal of sanctions on our beloved country for the prosperity of our nation,” he said.
