PLUMTREE town is set to come to life this weekend as maskandi duo Aphiwe and Sobancane are scheduled to share the stage with South Africa-based rhumba musician, Mxolisi “Mr Bones” Ndlovu.

The show to be held at Ndabayakhe nightclub on Friday, is one of many that have been organised by promoters. It will be the first Plumtree town performance for the maskandi duo.

Commenting on behalf of Aphiwe and Sobancane, their manager Handy Sibanda said the duo is excited to stage the show in the border town.

“This is their first show in Plumtree town and I can safely say that we’re ready for it. They’re doing daily rehearsals and we’re confident that they’ll deliver to fans’ expectations,” Sibanda said.

Things are looking up for Sobancane and Aphiwe who released their video for the song Umbuzo two weeks ago and are being invited to grace several local events.

Sibanda added that the group is eyeing the Bulawayo Theatre which they hope to fill up someday.

The duo successfully launched their debut album titled Umbuzo in South Africa in April. The album features songs Ukufa, Abagulayo which features Vusa Mangena, Ntombi, Izimnyama, Nhliziyo Yami and Inyembezi Zothando.

SA-based Mr Bones who was in the country recently to bury his rhythmist, Malimo “Malume” Sibanda, assured people that he is geared for the event and will be returning to the country for the show.

“We’re definitely coming for the show. After the burial, everyone returned to their normal way of life and as a band, we also need to continue with our work as that will also aid us in recovering from the pain we’re going through, said Mr Bones.
The Dilika Jele hitmaker said he will work on getting a permanent replacement for the late Malume.
