Plumtree-based maskandi duo Aphiwe and Sobancane are set on dominating the charts and delivering festive season hits as they prepare for their third studio album.
The duo will leave for South Africa on Thursday, where they will spend the entire month of August recording their upcoming album, Funda Ukwamukela.
Produced by Sabelo, the album will feature tracks such as the title song Funda Ukwamukela, Ngo December, Uyabaleka, Ngiyakuthanda, Kweminye Imizi, Kwabanemali, Izidakamizwa, and Uthando Lweqiniso.

This latest offering follows their previous albums, Nhliziyo Yami and Imibuzo.
According to the duo’s manager, Handy, the album will carry themes of love, growth, truth, and ambition.
“The duo will spend a month in South Africa, and this time, the entire album will be recorded in one studio by the same producer who worked on one of the tracks from their previous album.
“The album is set for release between mid and late September, and if all goes according to plan, we aim to launch it through a tour in Zimbabwe before taking it to other neighbouring countries,” said Handy.
Asked why they chose to record across the Limpopo River, Handy explained: “South Africa is renowned as a leading force in genres like maskandi. We felt it necessary to take a chance and work with people who truly understand the sound, its demands, and its potential.” – Follow on X: @mthabisi_mthire
