THE National Judiciary Council of Vapostori has hailed President Mnangagwa’s leadership for ensuring there is peace and social development in the country as evidenced by the efforts put in place to address emerging issues such as the cholera outbreak.
Secretary-General of the Council Madzibaba Obey Mapuranga, said they stand behind the President and his administration.
“The National Judicial Council of Vapostori and its pastoral representatives in the ten provinces of Zimbabwe have taken note of the glorious direction and a good start of the year 2024 in Zimbabwe. The continuity of peace in Zimbabwe after the successful and credible 2023 harmonised elections has demonstrated to the world that Zimbabwe is truly a peace-loving nation. The National Judicial Council of Vapostori would like to commend the Government for showing a good start in the year 2024 in executing various developmental programmes in different Government ministries,” said Madzibaba Mapuranga.
The country is faced with a cholera outbreak and in the past, there have been pockets of immunisation resistance from members of the apostolic sects but the NJCV has vowed to get all its members take up immunisation. The church also said the country was making headway in ending child marriages and other social ills that have affected the country.
“The NJCV is commending the Government for its efforts to combat the cholera outbreak including the ongoing successful fight against drug abuse and early marriages. We want to Biblically and spiritually applaud the leadership of President Mnangagwa on his Government’s gesture to abolish the death penalty in Zimbabwe. Freedom of religion is also continuously being witnessed across all worshipers in the country,” said Madzibaba Mapuranga.
He said the council was praying for improved rainfall in some parts of the country and the unlocking of job opportunities for the youth.
“We continue to have faith in our prayers that the current formalisation of the informal sector shall create more job opportunities as we are witnessing the emergence of a people-friendly economy which is harnessed by the Godly mantra of the President, ‘the country is built by its people, governed by its own people and prayed for by its own people’,” he said.
He talked against drug abuse among the youths saying they were praying for a morally upright society adding the some of the challenges that the country was facing were caused by imposition of illegal sanctions.
“The illegal economic sanctions on Zimbabwe should be removed because they are affecting all sectors of the economy and burdening the livelihood of the ordinary Zimbabwean people. We urge all Zimbabweans to focus on developing our nation and fight against drug and substance abuse,” he added. @NyembeziMu
