Two armed robbers, one of them armed with a pistol, raided a house in Gwanda and stole 500 grammes of gold worth over $19 000 on Monday night. Police said the two armed robbers threatened the house occupants with a pistol before stealing gold.Chief police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said no arrests had been made.
“In another case, on October 29, 2016 at 0400 hours police arrested a 43-year-old man in Bulawayo for robbery. The suspect with his accomplice lured a man to a place where they robbed him of cash and valuables worth $3 100,” she said.
Snr Asst Comm Charamba said they were investigating a case that occurred in Zvimba last Sunday when six family members assaulted three men with sticks and shotguns, leaving them for dead following a brawl over cattle that had strayed into their premises.
Meanwhile, Snr Asst Comm Charamba said a 44-year-old man died in Southerton while painting the interior of a water bowser.
“On October 29, 2016, three male adults were hired to paint the inside of a water bowser at a business premises in Southerton.
“On the following day at around 0300hours, a security guard had to call for assistance when he was alerted that the two men were suffocating inside the bowser. They were referred to Harare Central Hospital where one of them was pronounced dead on arrival,” she said.
As a result, police warned members of the public to ensure that there was adequate ventilation when carrying out assignments in enclosed areas and, if in doubt, engage the services of ex- perts.
