Armed robbers steal money changer’s cooking oil

THREE suspected armed robbers allegedly raided an illegal money changer at his home in Bulawayo before torturing him into revealing where he had hidden cash.

The suspects got away with R29 500, US$995, ZWL$3 000, three cell phones, six litres of cooking oil and a cream satchel.

Busani Ndlovu (34) and his two accomplices who are still at large were armed with iron bars when they robbed Mr Peter Chaitwa (52) from Old Pumula suburb.

Ndlovu pleaded not guilty to a robbery charge before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Stephen Ndlovu. The magistrate remanded him in custody to December 9 for continuation of trial.

For the State, Mr Tony Kamudyariwa said on November 27 at around 4AM, the gang allegedly raided Mr Chaitwa whom they suspected to be a foreign currency dealer.-@sharonbuwe
