Arsenal track Kante

LONDON. — Arsenal have already held repeated talks over a transfer for Leicester City midfielder N’Golo Kante.

The Gunners appear determined to land the France international after his sensational debut season in the English Premier League, and are ready to pay his £20million release clause.

Kante has been a revelation for Leicester, quickly establishing himself as one of the best defensive midfield players in Europe and playing a key role in the club’s shock title win.

Signed for only £5.6m last summer, Kante’s value has skyrocketed this term, but Arsenal can still supposedly sign him for a relatively low fee.

According to RMC, Arsene Wenger has already begun work on the deal by approaching the 25-year-old’s representatives, having identified him as a top priority target for the summer.

Arsenal are set to lose experienced midfield trio Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky at the end of the season and have been short of quality in the middle of the park this year.

Kante has equally been strongly linked with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Arsenal transfer target Riyad Mahrez’s chances of leaving Leicester City are at 50/50, according to his agent. — Metro.
