“Creative Marathon” art exhibition started showcasing its revolutionary artistic cupboard full of artworks ranging from photography, illustration and drawings on Monday. The exhibition opened at Village Unhu in Chisipite and features works of Munyaradzi Alois Marozva, a level 4,2 Fine Art student at Chinhoyi University of Technology.The solo exhibitor said creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making creative past, present and future.
“Creative Marathon’, meaning the journey I started since I began to study art, presents experience and knowledge gained, a glimpse of future projects, and it is my creative signature” he said.
“Here I showcase artworks ranging from photography, illustrations, drawings, graphic design, paintings, mixed media, 3D art and textile decoration.
“In this exhibition I was experimenting with different techniques and applying knowledge gained during my studies and industrial attachment experience. I use scribbling technique in my drawings as it challenges my confidence in my creation process. I work around “errors” without erasure for I find these little “errors” as part of the way I view the world.”
In photography he is experimenting with how light bounces onto subjects. His fascination with illustration drawing makes him explore more into the comic world and understand how art can help educate and entertain people.
Marozva was born in 1992 and his fascination with art began when he was still young, though his career path was in a different direction.
He was introduced to the art world by a friend in high school, and after finishing his A’ Level studies he decided to switch lanes and study art and understand it.
He still has a lot to learn in this world and his art is one way of showing his learning process. His art is an open diary to what he observes and feels.
The artist is challenging himself to be able to change people’s perceptions about life and art.
It is CUT’s Fine Arts degree requirement that the last level of study should involve an exhibition of student’s works.
The exhibition aims at giving the student exposure to the industrial environment, practical experience and an overview of operations and quality control in curatorship.
