BULAWAYO artiste Bukhosi Nyathi popularly known as Mr Jaiva is fighting for his life at Mpilo Hospital after he was left for dead in a midnight vicious attack by five unknown men.
Mr Jaiva who manages a number of dance groups in the city was attacked on Monday night on his way home from a show.
He sustained multiple deep cuts on the neck, head and ear after being repeatedly stabbed by a knife and pieces of a broken empty beer bottle.
Speaking to B-Metro, Mr Jaiva who was struggling to talk said his attackers who were traveling in a Honda Fit left him left him bloodied and bruised all over the body.
He said they wanted him dead.
a�?I am still confused to explain what really happened. What I only remember is that I boarded a silver Honda Fit on my way home and paid for a delivery since it was late. There were five men in it and I suspected nothing since they disguised as passengers by paying the driver.
a�?The robbers pounced on me when I was opening the gate. One of them came out of the car and attacked me with an unknown object and I immediately fell down to the ground,a�? said Mr Jaiva.
He said his attacker went on to pull out a folding knife while demanding money and his cellphone.
He added: a�?While demanding money he stabbed me on the shoulder and behind the ear and in the process one of them brought a piece of a broken empty beer bottle and repeatedly stabbed me on the head and neck. Blood spilled all over my clothes.
a�?The robbers later disappeared with my phone after neighbours who had been attracted by the struggle woke up. The neighbours later ferried me to hospitala�?.
Meanwhile, police in Bulawayo recently said most cases of robberies that occurred in the city were committed by drivers of pirating Honda Fit vehicles. .
