Zim-Dancehall musicians and dance groups that are set to clash with Harare’s top spinners at Borrowdale Racecourse tomorrow say they are ready for the ‘‘battle’’.
Chanters Soul Jah Love and Tiva Love will join forces with Harare’s top dance crews that include Flip-Floppers, a hip-hop outfit, Magesh, winners of the Star Brite talent search and Real Flex. An agent representing the artistes said they were raring to go.
“This partnership brings something new to the entertainment scene. The artistes are very happy to be at the same event as the spinners. They are itching to showcase their art in a different environment,” he said.
Organisers of the event said they are glad to bring artistic flavour to the show.
“This is the first time that Zim-dancehall artistes have collaborated with the spinners so we hope it will be a great event. We also hope there will be more such collaborations in future,” said one of the organisers.
“We would like to thank all the sponsors that came through to sponsor the event as well as Shorty-S Restaurant who will be catering at the show.
“We hope to see fans in their numbers at the show which we have allowed those with cooler boxes to bring them and have fun in the sun.”
Energy will be high on the tarmac with veteran spinners Fat Cat, Goofa, DJ Shy, Russel, Spin Kid as well as Brandon doing their thing.
Watch out for the popular stuntman Kunnie who will be out to please the crowd when he jumps in and out of the car as it spins.
From the music side the collaboration shows how much Zim-Dancehall has gained ground on the music scene and with Soul Jah Love on the line-up expect nothing short of fireworks.
He has plenty up his sleeves and music fans love him for his great artistry and consistency in the genre.
Also not to be outdone is Tiva Stylez whose narration of the Budiriro saga where members of the apostolic sect clashed with the riot police leaves nothing to the imagination.
