Artistes speak on Easter plans

THE Easter Holiday does not mean the same to all artistes hence they have varied engagements during this holiday.
Some of the artistes interviewed said they will be at church while others said it will be work as usual and yet another group said it will be time to relax with their families during this holiday meant to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Tsviriyo hit-maker Jah Prayzah said he would be hard at work as he has a busy schedule during the Easter weekend.

“I’ve back to back shows during the Easter weekend. They’ll stretch from Friday till Monday so I’ll be very busy during the holidays,” he said.

Prayzah said though he would want to spend time with family during holidays, it was almost impossible as holidays were usually very busy.

“During the holidays we’re usually very busy and we don’t have time to be with our families. It’s only after holidays that we rest to be with our families,” he said.

Veteran modelling instructor Sarah Mpofu-Sibanda said she would be at church the greater part of the holiday and also attend social functions such as parties.

“I’ll be at my friend’s birthday party on Sunday, that’s the highlight of my Easter weekend. Besides that I’ll be with my family and we’ll go to church for special Easter services,” Mpofu-Sibanda said.

She said Easter was a time to reflect on Jesus Christ’s sacrifices when he died on the Cross for mankind.

Musician, Sandra Ndebele-Sibindi who is the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe brand ambassador said she would spend the Easter holiday raising awareness on the need to drive safely.

“As the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe brand ambassador I’ll be on the major highways leading in and out off Bulawayo raising awareness on the need to drive safely.

“I’ll be handing out pamphlets and talking to motorists,” Ndebele-Sibanda said.

She said she would also use the holiday to rehearse for an international tour.

“I’m leaving the country after Independence so when I’m done with the traffic safety business, I’ll start rehearsing with my group Intombi Zomqangala” she said.

The once controversial model Lungile Mathe better known as Cyclone Ree said she would take a break from the party scene this Easter and get closer to God.

“I’ll be at home, relaxing. I want to go to church for a special Easter service as opposed to partying the whole weekend,” she said.

Comedian and socialite Babongile Sikhonjwa said there was no rest for him during the Easter period as he has a series of events lined up.

“Easter is time to make money. I’ll be busy at engagement parties, weddings and nightclubs round the city. While most people are on holiday, I’ll be entertaining them,” said the comedian.

Bulawayo gospel musician Dorothy Madamba said she would be attending a church conference at Zimbabwe Assemblies of God.

“Easter is about commemorating death, burial and resurrection of Jesus which is the centre of our Christian faith so I’ll be at a church conference.”
