Artistes take over promoters’ job

BULAWAYO kwaito artiste PoZee and hip hop musician, POY have partnered to promote local music, saying promoters in the city had failed them as artistes. In an interview yesterday, PoZee said they had taken it upon themselves to cultivate their own crowd after realising that there were no promoters in Bulawayo.

PoZee said the few promoters in the city were businesspeople who did not care much about developing artistes.

“There are no promoters in the city. We have businessmen who are more concerned with making money rather than growing the industry.”

The duo, who produced the hit-track Kuse Bulawayo La said plans were underway to produce another track. The two are currently working on Bigger than Hip Hop shows which are held every at Cape to Cairo every two weeks.

“The shows at Cape to Cairo are held to encourage upcoming artistes to interact with established artistes so that they share notes. We want to know what we can do in terms of music production,” he said.
