Artistes set to help music legend Jeys Marabini celebrate his 34-year career have expressed their excitement and commitment to delivering memorable performances, befitting the occasion.
Zimbabwean arts guru, Saimon “Mambazo” Phiri, through Sabela Studios, has organised a special concert titled ‘Friends of Jeys Marabini Live in Concert’ to honour the legend. The event will take place on Saturday at the Academy of Music in Bulawayo, promising an unforgettable night of music and celebration. Another event has also been scheduled for Friday at the Alliance Française in Harare, adding to the celebrations for the music legend.
The line-up of artistes includes African music icon Steve Dyer, gospel sensation Pastor Barak, versatile artiste Mzoe 7 and the talented songstress Thandy Dhlana. It will be a double celebration, as Jeys Marabini will also launch a new album on the night of the event.

In interviews, the artistes shared that they are fully prepared for the celebration and have pledged to honour the music icon with performances that reflect his legendary status.
Posting on his Facebook page, Steve Dyer said he is looking forward to performing at the celebrations.
“Good people! Zim has always been a welcoming place to me. Looking forward to performing at the Alliance on Friday. Jeys Marabini celebrating 34 years in the ‘music industry’ is also on the bill. Come through for the celebration,” wrote Dyer.
Local artistes are also eager to perform. Soulful musician, Thandy Dhlana expressed her excitement, saying: “It’s an honour to be among the creatives supporting this celebration of our music legend, Jeys Marabini’s 34 years in the industry. Despite more than three decades in the game, Marabini is still going strong and will even be dropping a new album on the night.
“Being part of this event validates my talent and inspires me to keep working hard, creating more music for the people of Bulawayo and beyond. It’s a worthy opportunity that any young artiste could dream of.”
She added that Marabini, who has mentored many artistes, is a significant source of inspiration.

“Marabini is an inspiration to many of us in the industry. I believe that as we learn from him as a leader, we’ll follow in his footsteps, as he has paved the way for us on this challenging journey,” said Thandy Dhlana.
Gospel musician, Pastor Barak also stated that it is an honour to perform alongside a legend and talented artistes from the music industry.
“For a gospel musician who is still rising the ladder, I feel incredibly grateful to be part of this celebration for a music legend who has worked tirelessly to ensure that our local music scene is recognised.
“I’m ready for the show and I encourage everyone to come out in numbers, so we can celebrate our legend while he is still here to see and appreciate it,” said Pastor Barak.
Mzoe 7, who is emerging as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry, said: “It feels great to share the stage with the legendary Jeys Marabini, as I’ve always been a fan and now, I’m blessed to be featured on his album.
“Jeys has a love for every generation and leads by example. People can expect a mature yet electrifying performance from Mzoe 7. I’m giving it my all, as I’ll be performing alongside superstars, Steve Dyer, Thandy Dhlana and Pastor Barak.”
