THE National Gallery of Zimbabwe (NGZ) in Bulawayo is throwing down the gauntlet to artists from Mbembesi, Gwanda, Midlands, Plumtree, and Ngozi Mine—can your art survive the battle between dreams and harsh reality?
The upcoming exhibition, boldly titled “Dreams vs Reality,” invites creators to confront the gritty space between what we hope for and what we live through. Organisers say the theme is a call to reflect the push-and-pull of life—where ambition wrestles with struggle, and hope meets hardship.
From paintings and sculptures to photography, video, and installation art, all mediums are welcome—but only the bold will break through.
Artists can submit up to three works, along with high-res images, artwork details, a short bio, and a statement about their creative concept. All documents must be in PDF format, with submissions due by 26 August.
A panel of art-savvy judges will choose the most powerful pieces based on quality, thematic depth, and how they vibe with the full exhibition. The chosen few will be announced by 29 August.
