Attack on CCC Leader Raises Concerns in Gwanda

In a shocking incident Mr Jastone Mazhale, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Gwanda cluster team leader, was attacked at the party’s office in Gwanda.

Eyewitness accounts reveal that the assailants initially identified themselves as police officers, raising suspicions among party members who believe they are linked to the notorious Feret group, known for targeting opposition figures.

A fellow party member, who witnessed the attack, stated, “They came in claiming to be police, but we all felt something was off. We suspect they are state agents connected to the Feret group.”

The attackers confronted Mazhale, accusing him of harboring CCC members Patience Moyo and Nkosikhona Dube. They alleged that the two were double agents who had previously infiltrated Zanu-PF activities while masquerading as supporters.

“They were shouting that they had information suggesting Patience and Nkosikhona had been hiding in South Africa but were recently spotted here in Gwanda,” the party member continued. “Now that the group has left, we’re particularly worried about the safety of both individuals, as they have disappeared.”

This attack marks a continuation of troubling patterns for Patience Moyo, who has faced harassment in the past.

The party member recounted, “This is not the first time Patience has been targeted. Back in 2018, she was attacked due to her political activities, which tragically led to a miscarriage.”

The incident has heightened fears among CCC members regarding the safety of their leaders and supporters, as political tensions continue to escalate in the region. As the community rallies for justice, the party remains vigilant, urging authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly.
