NORTON Town Council has submitted its 2024 draft financial statements for auditing, which is a statutory requirement and condition for the approval of the 2026 budget.

Just like any other local authority in the country, Norton Town Council is up to date with its statutory audit.

Town secretary, Mr Kizito Muhomba, told a full council meeting last week that external auditors started the audit on Monday this week, with the final report expected to be complete next month.

He said an independent assessor conducted the first quarter performance evaluations for all heads of departments.

“The town secretary’s second quarter performance assessment took place on July 10 2025,” said Mr Muhomba.

He said mid-year 2025 budget review meetings for the council have taken place with stakeholders and residents.

“However, attendance was low and some meetings could not proceed due to the absence of residents,” said Mr Muhomba.

He said a client satisfaction survey will be conducted in the third quarter to understand the reasons behind the low turnout.
