AUTHOR ADDRESSES GBV IN NEW BOOK

UNITED Kingdom-based author, Prieska Botha Chimhini, has taken a stand to fight gender-based violence (GBV) in her debut book titled “Unbroken: A Journey of Courage Love and Transformation”.

Chimhini launched her book a few weeks ago.

It touches on many issues which affect women both in the diaspora and back home in Zimbabwe.

Speaking from her base in the UK, Chimhini said she was inspired to write this book from her experiences in life.

She relocated to the UK at a young age, after losing both parents.

She faced many challenges on arrival which she overcame through resilience, determination and transformation.

“My book, ‘Unbroken,’ is a deeply personal narrative that charts my journey from a challenging upbringing in Zimbabwe to establishing a new life in the UK, where I founded Brisca Healthcare Ltd.

“Later, I founded She-Unity Support, a charity organisation established to assist BME African women experiencing Domestic Violence and Abuse in the UK.

“In this book, I talk through my experiences of resilience, determination and transformation aiming to inspire others with my story.

“From facing gender-based educational discrimination, and the loss of my father and mother, to overcoming adversity in a foreign land, my story is one of unyielding spirit and hope.”

She added:

“I felt compelled to write ‘Unbroken’ to share my story with those encountering similar hurdles in life.

“Over the years, despite not fitting the conventional mould of success, I’ve been touched by the number of people who have observed my growth, found inspiration in my journey and whom I’ve had the privilege to mentor. Their persistent encouragement was a significant factor behind my decision to write.

“The onset of COVID-19 served as a stark reminder that we don’t control time, prompting me to finally pen down my experiences.

“My goal is to inspire readers to persevere, to aim high and to recognise their own ability to enact change in their lives, just as I have.”
