President hints on WikiLeaks probe: Gumbo

PRESIDENT Mugabe has reportedly said Zanu-PF will investigate the origins and authenticity of revelations by whistle- blower website WikiLeaks that some of its members engaged United States officials and deliberated on sensitive matters without party approval.
Several junior and senior Zanu-PF members allegedly engaged America through its embassy in Harare.
This was despite the fact that the US administration imposed illegal sanctions on the country in an open show of aggression and disregard of international law.
Zanu-PF, for the first time, discu-ssed the WikiLeaks revelations at its Central Committee meeting last Thursday.

Female rape suspects: Scores besiege police station

SCORES of people yesterday besie-ged Gweru Central Police Station demanding to beat up three women suspected of sexually abusing men.
Police also said many complainants had visited the police station, but could not divulge the numbers.
The three youthful suspects – all aged 24 – were arrested last Sunday after their vehicle was involved in an accident along Lower Gweru Road.
Police say they recovered 31 used condoms – four of them with semen – from the vehicle, a Chevrolet, that was being driven by a boyfriend of one of the suspe- cts.
The three women, whose identities are being withheld as investigations continue and the driver, were arrested.
Gandiya defies Supreme Court

THE Anglican Church’s Bishop for Ha-rare Chad Gandiya has defied a Sup-reme Court directive to stop seeking political intervention in a long-drawn wrangle over ownership of the church’s properties.
Bishop Gandiya and other bishops affiliated to the Church of the Province of Central Africa, on Monday sought President Mugabe’s intervention in the matter.
This was despite a warning by Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku that such moves were tantamount to asking the executive to interfere with judicial processes.
Chief Justice Chidyausiku instructed the Registrar of the Supreme Court to write to the parties warning them agai-nst seeking political interference in the matter.
