POLICE have clarified that one of the outstanding suspects referred to as “Mambo Dhuterere” in a recent statement on a series of armed robberies is not the Zimbabwean gospel musician known by that name.

The clarification follows a Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) statement regarding the arrest of Tinei Makaripe (47), Pungurayi Mukumbachaza and Gabriel Mukumbachaza (41) in connection with a series of armed robbery cases in Ruwa, Rusape and Harare.

The ZRP said the outstanding suspect referred to as “Mambo Dhuterere” is not the musician, whose real name is Tendai Mavindidze.

The police clarification means the earlier identification of the musician in reports on the armed robbery cases was incorrect.

Police have said investigations into the robbery cases are continuing.
