Authorities from the Zimbabwe Land Commission are actively searching for Mr Perfect Ncube from Tshololotsho, Matabeleland North province, following revelations that he has taken title deeds for land inherited from their late father, Jilly Raphael Ncube, who passed away in 2023.
The land is in Umguza district.
According to officials, Perfect and his stepbrother, Teekay Ncube, have been embroiled in a dispute over the land, which their father benefited from under the land reform program as a war veteran.
“We are aware of the situation surrounding the land inherited from the late Jilly Raphael Ncube in Umguza, Matabeleland North province. It has come to our attention that Mr Perfect Ncube has taken the title deeds for this property, which has raised significant concerns.
“The land in question was allocated to Jilly Ncube under the land reform program, acknowledging his status as a war veteran. As such, the rights to this property are governed by regulatory frameworks that uphold the principles of land reform in Zimbabwe. We recognize that disputes between family members over inherited land can be complex and emotionally charged. However, it is imperative to clarify that any land allocated under the reform program rightfully belongs to the government,” reads part of the statement.
Investigations have however revealed that Perfect was being targeted as there is a senior government official who had already reached an agreement with his brother over taking over the land.
“Perfect is being targeted because he is standing up for his and his family’s rights, these people want to use their power to get rid of him, they have even threatened him with death for his steadfastness.”
A family member however disclosed, “Jilly had left the land to Perfect, but Teekay has vowed to oppose this decision and fight for the property until he can sell it off.”
The family member further noted the ongoing tensions between the two brothers, stating, “They have had numerous clashes over the land, with Teekay even using his connections within the government to try to claim it for himself.”
With Perfect now missing along with the title deeds, authorities have expressed their eagerness to interview him, emphasizing that the land rightfully belongs to the government.
The family member added, “We suspect that this entire situation is orchestrated by Teekay, who is trying to forcibly take the land for himself. Since Perfect disappeared no one knows where he is and he has not communicated with anyone.”
